Sea of Borage
Beautiful and tastes like a cucmber, but somehow more like a cucumber than a real cucumber.
We grow rare, heirloom fruits and vegetables you won’t find at the market. Inspired by chefs and chosen for flavor and beauty, our crops are grown from seed in greenhouse and indoor grow rooms in central Philadelphia. We focus on off-the-beaten-path varieties that don’t survive commercial supply chains. Our crops are rotated monthly, so there’s always something new.
Every order is harvested within 24 hours of purchase. No storage. No middlemen. Contact us to see what we’re harvesting now.
All images shown feature crops grown by J’s Greens. We rotate our plantings monthly. Each crop yields approximately 100–300 plants.
We’ve grown borage, white strawberries (pine berries), red alexandria strawberries, flashy buttergem lettuce, sorrel (bloody dock), chervil, cardinal basil, thai basil, boquinho yellow peppers, black strawberry cherry tomatoes, and spoon tomatoes.
If you’re interested in working with us, reach out and we’ll set up a time for a tasting. Complimentary tastings for chefs (availability varies).
